PTA Day at the General Assembly 2019
There were great investments made in K-12 education this session. Teacher salaries were increased and bills were passed that support school safety, dyslexia testing, military family registration, the e-cigarette epidemic and control of the local school calendar. While there was a modest increase in school counselor funding, there is still work to be done to modernize the Standards of Quality funding formulas and fund full unified mental health teams. Funding also fails to fully address the deterioration of aging school buildings across the state and renovations needed to provide safe environments equipped to support 21st century learning.
