Volunteer of the Year Program
Volunteers
- the backbone of the PTA. Whether at the Local Unit, or
the National, volunteers are what keep the PTA moving ahead
and in the right direction. Volunteers come in all shapes,
sizes, and personality. For every volunteer you have, there
is a different reason for them being there, but the bottom
line is that PTA volunteers are there for the children
and youth. There are also a million different ways that
people volunteer. Some are in the classroom working one
on one with a student, or teacher, others are out there
talking to their school boards or other governing authorities
making sure that bills are passed that benefit our children
and youth. Others are out there serving on school committees,
or PTA programs. They also work in a myriad of different
ways, some are quiet and surefooted, while others are outspoken.
We have the dreamers and those that carry out the dreams.
The idea people and the do-it people. But the one thing
all PTA Volunteers have in common is their advocacy for
all children and youth. To recognize the importance of
the volunteer to our organization, The Virginia PTA has
instituted the Virginia PTA Volunteer of the Year Award.
