Meet Whitney Justice, Secondary PTA/PTSA Committee Chair

 

Are you a member in a Secondary PTA or PTSA unit in Virginia??


PTA unit – Parent Teacher Association
PTSA unit – Parent Teacher Student Association – students are allowed to join as a member and vote

As of November 2010, all secondary units are able to offer membership to all students as long as they are a PTSA unit. If your unit is current a PTA unit and would like to convert to a PTSA unit click here for instructions.

 

altThe Secondary PTA Committee coordinates projects and programs designed to meet the interests and needs of middle school and high school local units and their parent, teacher and student members.

PTSA provides membership and leadership opportunities for all students in secondary schools.

Secondary PTAs promotes a smooth transition for the move from elementary to middle school; middle school to high school; and high school to post-secondary education or employment

Secondary PTAs sponsors student- involvement programs such as Reflections, Citizenship Essay Project, Virginia PTA Scholarship Program and Student Leadership Awards.

Secondary PTAs encourages and supports development of programs and grants that focus on adolescent health, juvenile protection, parenting and transition issues that affect secondary teachers, students and their families

PTA (at the direction of the president) serves as liaison to such statewide organizations as the After-Prom and After-Grad Party, Virginia Middle School Association, Virginia High School League and the Student Cooperative Association (SCA).
