altWelcome New Virginia PTA Units!

Congratulations for becoming a part of the largest child advocacy group in the nation.

Additionally, our website has a wealth of information, ideas and guidance that each unit will find valuable. If you are looking for something and cannot find it, email our Webmaster

The forms below can be found online in our Local Unit Resource Guide (LURG) This particular document has forms and answers many questions that our local unit leaders need to do their jobs well. Also, check out the New Unit Guide.

What to do next?

Request your PTA EIN Number

Visit the IRS website and apply online.

At the beginning of the online EIN application process, you will be asked to check a box that best describes your legal structure. The legal structure for all Tax Exempt/Non Profit Organizations is found under the 7th option, 'View Additional Types', Including Tax Exempt and Governmental Agencies. Non-profit organizations include corporations, trusts, limited liability companies, and unincorporated associations that qualify for tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 501(a) as described in Publication 557, Tax-Exempt Status for Your Organization.

Open a PTA Bank Account

You must have your EIN number to open a bank account for your unit.

Get Trained!

Check out PTA training opportunities. Most Districts hold training each year in addition to our statewide event - the Leadership Training Conference (LTC for short) - which is usually held in July each year.  If you cannot attend and have immediate training needs, email the Field Service Chair for assistance.

Again, on behalf of the Virginia PTA Board of Managers and staff: WELCOME!
