altMeet Your Board Member……Debbie Kilpatrick, Education Chair

Debbie has been involved with PTA for more than 12 years in many different positions and has served in all three school levels - elementary, middle school, and high school. She currently serves at the local
unit level as PTSA President. Debbie also serves at the Council level of PTA and has served at the District level as District Director of the Northern Virginia District PTA for four years. She was elected in 2009 to serve as the Virginia PTA Education Chair. Each position has brought with it a vast opportunity to meet new people and learn new procedures in order to become more knowledgeable on ways to support our local members.
She is married to Bill and has two sons who have kept her busy with their in-school activities and extracurricular commitments. Her oldest graduated from University of Virginia this summer and was
accepted as a Graduate Research Assistant at Auburn University in Alabama. Her youngest is a junior in high school and participates in theater tech supporting the school plays.
Her background of being a Substitute Teacher for the past eleven years has helped her understand what the students, teachers, and administrators need from the PTA and how the PTA can better support the
schools. Also, having served for seven years in the US Army Reserves on active duty status has prepared her for family and PTA responsibilities. She considers everyone she meets to be a friend in PTA no
matter what lifestyle or culture they are from. Her personal goal is to reach out to those she meets, to promote and support the PTA mission, and offer her hand in friendship.
