When parents are involved, children succeed in school. Virginia PTA's Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes and honors outstanding volunteers who have given selflessly to make their school community a better place for students and staff to achieve their goals.
This special person does not need to be the person who logs the most volunteer hours or is a PTA executive board member. Nominees should be someone who has made a positive impact on the school and its children. All local units are encouraged to participate in this worthy recognition of volunteers. Letters of recommendation are not required, but will be accepted and considered if submitted.
Volunteer of the Year applications should be submitted to your District Director who selects one winner for Elementary (PreK-5th) and one winner for Secondary (6th-12th). Please check with your District Director for District and Council deadlines. District Directors are to submit their Volunteer of the Year winners to the state office by April 30th, 2017. State Volunteer of the Year recipients are selected from these district level award winners. State winners will be notified by May 31st and invited to be recognized at the VA PTA Annual Conference in July.
