Excellence in Education Partnership Award

Congratulations to White Oaks Elementary PTA in the Northern Virginia District, winner of the Virginia PTA level of the Phoebe Apperson Hearst-National PTA Excellence in Education Partnership Award. 
 
White Oaks Elementary PTA sponsored “The Brown Bag Lunch” enrichment program in cooperation with the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.  The Brown Bag Lunch program is an optional program which takes place in the library during lunch period of the fifth and sixth grade students to allow for a quiet, intimate setting in which they can enjoy their lunches while also learning about a selected subject.  White Oaks Elementary PTA was recognized at the Virginia PTA Annual Convention, October 27, 2007 at the Renaissance Portsmouth Waterfront Hotel and Conference Center, Portsmouth, VA. 

Accepting the award was Angela Nesley, current PTA president at White Oaks Elementary PTA.

The national winner receives: a cash award of $2,000 for use in a PTA program that promotes parent involvement; two expense-paid trips to the National PTA Convention (one for the PTA president or designee and one for a representative of the collaborative group); and an opportunity to participate in national convention activities and a mention in National PTA publications.
