A National PTA Parent Involvement Initative
"Building Successful Partnerships"

Question: What makes a successful student?
Answer:
A strong partnership between the home and school!

Research shows that when parents are involved in students' education, those students generally have higher grades and test scores, better attendance, and more consistently completed homework.

Whereas the Virginia PTA/PTSA recognizes that schools with strong parent involvement programs experience profound benefits for students, parents, teacher and administrators, the VA PTA supports the "Building Successful Partnerships" program sponsored by the National PTA.

The Virginia PTA/PTSA has 32 certified presenters who can travel to your school or community to conduct a "Building Successful Partnerships Workshop.  Workshops focus on increasing awareness and implementation of the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs. See the BSP Events page to schedule an event.

BSP Events fit in the 3-to-1 Rule

Have you heard of the 3-to-1 Rule?  It is a suggested guide for practical fund-raising by PTAs (non-profit organizations) which helps ensure the purpose of our tax-exempt status is upheld by every PTA.  As a public charity organization, fund-raising cannot be a primary function, however it is acknowledged that PTAs do fund-raise to support their programs and activities and in many instances off-set inadequate funding within a school.  To help ensure the proper focus on the purposes of PTA, the 3-to-1 rule suggests that for every fund-raising activity, your PTA should sponsor or host at least three programs.

A BSP event would qualify as a program and would be a great benefit to your membership and school community.  Schedule a BSP today and check-off one program for the year.
