What is PDF and why do I need it?

PDF stands for Portable Document File. This file format allows users to view and print highly complex documents that retain their original formatting. These files are commonly used for publications that are not easily translated into HTML.

The Virginia PTA and National PTA use PDF files to enhance the usability of PTA documents, to make documents more easily distributable, and to allow users multiple formats for documents.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is offered free by Adobe Systems.  Reader allows users to view and print highly complex documents that retain their original formatting by using the PDF format.

You can download the FREE Acrobat Reader from Adobe's site.
