Virginia
PTA Board of Managers
The
officers of the Virginia PTA, directors and assistant
directors, chairmen of standing committees, and the
Immediate Past President shall constitute the Board
of Managers.
The
officers shall be a president, president-elect, a vice-president,
a
secretary, and a treasurer who are elected for a term
of two (2) years. Officers are elected on the
second day of the annual convention in an election
year.
District
directors (and district officers) are elected at annual
district meetings in alternate years for a term of
two (2) years. The director of each district is a member
of the Board of Managers. Districts with membership
in excess of 30,000 shall also have one assistant on
the Board.
Standing
committees may be created by the Board of Mangers as
deemed necessary to carry on the work of the Virginia
PTA. Each standing committee shall consist of
a state chairman, who shall be member of the Board
and other persons as may be approved by the executive
committee. All standing committees shall include a
minimum of one non-board member. Chairmen are elected
for a term of two (2) years. The Arts In Education
Chair and Legislation chair are elected at the annual
spring Board meeting. All other committee chairs are
elected at the post-convention board meeting.
Special
committees may be created and appointed by the president
or Board of Managers. The
president shall designate chairman and and members
of any and all other committees not specified by the
Bylaws. (i.e. Internal Committees).
