Military Child Month at Tarrallton Elementary
The Norfolk Council of PTAs hosted a citywide celebration for the Month of the Military Child at Tarrallton Elementary.
The event kicked off with the Presentation of Colors by the Norview High School's ROTC Color Guard. As part of the event parents who serve were asked to come in their military uniforms. A number of military and community organizations hosted booths offering resources and gave free items to the families and students. Participants enjoyed free hot dogs, drinks, games, K-9 demonstration, Sheriffs I Dent-a-Kid program and viewed student displays of 243 pictures drawn by military students of their parents ships and duty stations.
There was a very poignant moment during the celebration when Norfolk's Reflections winner for Literature 3rd grader Kaila N. of Tarrallton Elementary read her composition of "What it Means to Me to be a Military Child".
